CAST: Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve [aka Gildy] (played by
Willard Waterman, Marjorie Forrestor (Stephanie Griffin),
Leroy Forrestor (Ronald Keith, Leila Ronsom (Shirley
Mitchell), Lois (Doris Singleton), Birdie Lee Coggins
(Lillian Randolph), Peavey (Forrest Lewis), Judge Hooker
(Earle Ross).
STORY: The story of Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, water
commissioner, and his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie
and Leroy Forrestor. Episodes involved the adventures of a
bachelor caring for two young children. The television
series is based on the radio program of the same name which
starred Hal Peary in the title role. Believed to be
syndicated into reruns, but has not been seen in the United
States since the early 1960's.
TRIVIA: One of the early shows that also came over from
radio like George Burns before it. However only two shows
in TV history carry this distinction, that is from radio, to
movies, to TV. Can you name them both? They are Jack Benny
and The Great Gildersleeve!

Gildy's girlfriend Lois starts seeing other men and he
realizes that something must be done to get her back.

Gildy is appointed acting police concessioner at the height
of a crime wave.

GILDY GOES DIVING
Gildy buys a Navy surplus diving suit and dives into the
reservoir in order to impress a girl and a TV panel.
ONE TOO MANY SECRETARIES
Gildy gets in trouble when he tries to pass off his latest
girlfriend as his secretary.
ORANGE BLOSSOMS IN SUMMERFIELD
Gildy tries to break off his engagement by trying to get the
girl's family mad at him.
GILDY GOES BROKE
Gildy tries to stop a romance between his nephew and a
pretty girl.
GILDY TANGLES WITH LEROY'S TEACHER
Gildy decides to talk to Leroy's teacher when Leroy tells
him he is being overworked.
GILDY STEWS ABOUT A COOK
Gildy is forced to find himself a fiancee in order to
prevent his housekeeper from sacrificing her own marriage
plans for the sake of the Gildersleeve household.
GILDY, THE PRIVATE EYE
Gildy wants to solve the robbery of Sally Fuller's jewels,
but Police Sgt. Rogers stands in his way.
GILDY AND THE CON MEN
Two con men try to put the pinch on Gildy.
GILDY KING OF HEARTS
Gildy finds himself engaged to two women within 24 hours.
THE NIGHTMARE
Gildy finds that he recreates the plots of the mystery books
he has been reading in his dreams. They soon become so real
he can't tell fact from fiction anymore.
GILDY'S JUVENILE DELINQUENT
Gildy punishes Leroy for pulling a prank. Leroy tries to
convince Gildy that it was someone else who did it and not
him.
GILDY PULLS THE SWITCH
When $50,000 is stolen from City Hall the mayor blames Gildy
and threatens to take the money out of his salary.
GILDY GOES TO HOLLYWOOD
Gildy dreams of becoming a movie star when a movie company
comes to town to film a picture.
GOLF BALL INCIDENT
Gildy starts a feud when he accidentally hits a congressmen
on the head with a golf ball.
PRISONER OF LOVE
Gildy sacrifices himself of the city's aqueduct project.
GILDY'S COMMAND PERFORMANCE
Gildy has to take Leroy's place on a TV show when he gets
too scared to go on.
THE POLITICAL PLUM
Gildy discovers that his bachelor status is of greater
interest to the Governor than his clean record as Water
Commissioner.
THE QUIET ONE
Gildy must remain silent for 24 hours as part of an
initiation to a club.
GILDY BARD OF SUMMERFIELD
Gildy is accused of plagiarism when he writes some poetry to
impress a lady.
GILDY'S DANCING LESSONS
Gildy become attracted to leroy's dancing teacher.
WATER COMMISSIONER'S WATER COLOR
Gildy checks into the background of his niece's boyfriend.
TWO GIRLS, ONE BIRTHDAY
Gildy plan to celebrate his birthday with his two
girlfriends at two different times so the girls will never
meet.
THE RAFFLE
Gildy tries to impress a society lady with his own wealth.
GILDY'S EFFICIENCY KICK
Gildy tries to get a job as the head of a committee to
investigate the efficiency of City Hall.
GILDY'S ALL-AMERICAN BOY
Gildy gets Leroy to build a raft, like Huck Finn, in order
to keep him out of trouble.
THE GOOD SCOUT
A meddling aunt interupts Gildy's relationship with his new
girlfriend.
CALLING DR. BERGSTROM
Gildy falls for a lady doctor who mistakes his interest in
her for an illness and sends him to the hospital.
BIRDIE'S GOLDEN DREAMS
Gildy regrets ignoring the psychic dreams of his
housekeeper.
GILDY HIRES AN EAGER BEAVER
When Gildy hires an unnecessary assistant to impress his
girlfriend, the mayor decides that Gildy is the unnecessary
employee.
THE DEED
Gildy is deceived by a phony deed to the reservoir, causing
him to think that he now has to find a way to move the
water.
GILDY AND THE EXPECTANT FATHER
Gildy organizes a club called "the Jolly Boys" which almost
wrecks the hospital maternity ward, and ruins his romance
with a pretty nurse.
PROTECTIVE PARENT
Gildy thinks his niece is planning to elope, so he tries to
stop her.
GILDY LOVES WELL, BUT UNWISELY
Gildy almost gets himself married when he tries to save the
judge from a blonde.
MARJORIE'S APARTMENT
Marjorie moves into her own apartment to escape the madness
of Gildy's house.
GILDY THE GO-BETWEEN
Gildy invites one of his employees to stay at his house when
he has a fight with his wife.
BEAUTIES AND THE BEAST
While Gildy is talking to one girlfriend, a beauty shop
owner, another girlfriend's hair is ruined in the back of
the shop. Gildy finds that he is now a witness for both
sides.
